Your stories and creative dreams are worthy to be shared.

Let’s bring them into the world together.

Welcome! I’m Erin, an award-winning freelance journalist, narrative strategist, and creative coach. I’m here to help tell the stories you have been longing to share and bring creative ventures from imagination into reality. I’m so glad you’re here.

Click below explore some ways we can work together, read other stories I have told, or subscribe to my newsletter, Dust it Off, where I write about creative renewal and reconnection.

“Erin brought her love of good story telling and strong editing skills to help me get my literary non-fiction manuscript over the finish line. She assisted me in decluttering the text in a way that left stronger, sharper, stories without losing any of the art. Erin is professional, warm and generous of spirit, and on time with every deadline. I loved working with her!

In addition to editing, Erin helped me take that next step – finding a home for the book. Even though in the past I have successfully placed books with multiple publishers, the landscape has shifted and navigating the current publishing world without an experienced guide is daunting. Erin is that experienced guide!”

About Me

Erin Jones is a freelance writer in Mount Airy, Maryland. She holds a B.A. in English from Hood College, and an M.A. in English from Middlebury College. She split her graduate work between Middlebury’s Bread Loaf campus in Ripton, Vermont and Oxford University. After graduation, she returned to Oxford twice, once on a medieval art history grant and once to study choral composition. She is constantly scheming a plan to return to the city of spires.

As a private school teacher for nearly a decade, she wore many hats over the years. Teaching included Integrated Humanities, English, Literature, American History, P.E. Public Speaking, Creative Writing, Theater, and Fencing.  Coaching including Cross Country, Cheerleading, and Middle School Soccer.

In 2018, she completed the translation and resetting of an early oratorio by composer César Franck based on the book of Ruth, and produced its English world premiere as a fundraiser for refugees. She left teaching in 2019 to work in the sacred music world, before becoming a writer full time.

As a freelance journalist, she has had over 150 articles published, and won First Place in Arts and Entertainment Reporting in the 2024 MDDC (Maryland, Delaware, and DC) Press Association Awards and second place for Features in the 2025 MDDC Press Association Awards. She particularly loves to write stories that involve the arts, culture, and history.

In addition to journalism, she helps clients with memoir development and book proposals. She also writes about creative renewal through her newsletter, Dust it Off, and will be launching some creative coaching packages in the coming year.
